  1. Started reading this morning and it kept me enthral led all day.
Nice to have a hero who has explicit reasons for angst and characters who can maintain their humanity. Horrible things do happen but this novel does not delight in the ghoulish.
Looking forward to the next book!

  2. Great read, great central character, looking forward to the sequel. As the comment above says you’ve managed to deal with really unpleasant subject matter in a way that was neither voyeuristic nor gratuitously shocking. Well done!! Best wishes Maureen

    • Many thanks Maureen. I’m very glad to hear that you think the book dealt with the subject matter in an acceptable way. I’m just editing the sequel to THE FEW at the moment which should be out later in the year. Very best wishes and thankyou for taking the time to write – it means a lot to a debut author!

  6. Hi, I just fonished both your books. They are really fantastic, good plots, great characters, great locations and dealing with important issues. Looking forward to the next ones. Will they include the same cast of characters? How does Scamarcio deal with his dilemma? Any clues for faithful fans? Moi

    • Many thanks Moi. I’m so glad to hear you enjoyed them. Yes, some of the same people will reappear in the later books. Scamarcio finds his dilemma increasingly difficult to deal with but in book 3 THE HIT (due out later this year) it does come to a head a bit and he has to make some uncomfortable decisions. I’ve just started working on book 4 and that should be out next year, all being well. Many thanks for taking the time to write and if you ever had time to post a review on Amazon, I’d really appreciate it! Very best, Nadia

    • Many thanks for your message Noel. I’m so glad you enjoyed The Hit and that it rekindled your interest in Italy. I very much hope you like the first two in the series. The most recent, The Extremist, follows on from The Hit and sees big changes for Scamaricio. Happy summer reading to you and thanks again for taking the trouble to write!

  11. Hi my son and I are loving your books. We recently went to Paris and sat in a park on a dry hot day reading them. We like all the twists and turns you give Scamarcio. We have read your first three books. Looking forward to reading the rest of them

  12. Hi Nadia,
Just read 2 of your books. The American, which I loved and really got into the story, I followed the twists n turns although it had a bit too much going on the pace was just right for me. So then The Extremist, which really lost me. This is set in one of the loveliest places on earth but you lost me about half way through, actually got bored, and at the end when he is thinking about the impending fatherhood, our protagonist cant even rejoice in the moment! Unbelievable. Sorry I have retired him! Its lost its way. Smell the roses a little!

    • Lynn,
Interesting that you took the time to point out to me that you no longer enjoy the books. It’s strange, I’ve been told by quite a few people that the Extremist is their favourite. Very subjective I guess. I think you probably need to understand the kind of childhood Scamarcio had to appreciate why fatherhood might be troublesome and complex for him. This childhood is referred to in the early books.
Not sure what you mean by smell the roses but never mind. I don’t have any in my garden so there you go.

  14. I loved The Extremist as I’ve loved all the Scamarcio series, I can’t wait till the next book comes out! Crime thrillers is my genre, I’ve read all the Jack Reacher, Harry Bosch. Kurt Wallander and Roy Grace series and Scamarcio is right up there with them in terms of being a page turner! Keep doing what you’re doing!

  15. Hello Nadia, Just reading The American and very impressed with your research! I keep referring to google and time after time I find your background is right. Only thing I havent found is any reference to C. I. A. controlled operative mixing cement with milk in Cuba. Did this happen or is it a gem from your imagination? Congratulations on producing an exhilirating and yet factual book. Im a fan!

    Like

    • Many thanks for your comments John. The cement story was not a product of my imagination but the testimony of a former CIA agent active in Cuba. The goal of course was to undermine the peoples’ faith in Castro. Thanks so much for taking the trouble to write!

  16. Hello Nadia
My husband suggested I read The Few at the start of lockdown and I have subsequently read all 5 of your books, one after the other! I love the variety and complexity of your storylines and the historical links which have me looking things up online. I am intrigued by Scamarcio and his background history, especially his ties to the mafia. Can you give any clues to what might be in store for Scamarcio in the next novel? When do you think it might be out for us to buy? Nicky

    • Hi Nicky. Thanks for your message. I am so glad you have been enjoying the books. Alas I am not yet sure when the next Scamarcio book will be out as I am currently writing a stand alone novel set in the US with a completely new cast of characters. That said, I would very much like to return to Scamarcio one day soon so I shall be sure to let you know when I have news about a 6th book. Many thanks again and take care xx

  19. Nadia a big thank you for the Scarmachio series. I am just finishing The Hit and have The Extremist waiting and The Devil arriving tomorrow. Somehow I have become an addict if Italian crime fiction. It started with Massimo Carlotto. Then the Schiavone series appeared on TV here and I read all the Manzinis. So it wasn’t a big jump to your excellent series.
